Julie Palmer

Music was always encouraged in Julie’s life, her mother being a piano teacher and her father playing guitar during her youth.

Some of Julie’s musical achievements include:

  • being a guest artist for the Adelaide Plains Male Voice Choir Fundraiser
  • singing with the Barossa Choir of Delights (supporting Leisure Options)
  • Music Co-ordinator for Upper Sturt School end of year production and volunteer guitar / singing with 3/4/5 class
  • guest singer for the Kernewick Players – Copper Triangle
  • in the chorus with the Snowtown Bute Drama Group, then Musical Director for their production of Calamity Jane 1993
  • in the chorus with the Northern Light Theatre Group production of My Fair Lady 1990
  • performing in a trio at the Laura Folk Fair
  • songwriting, music arrangements, busking
  • performing duets with her sister, Sandy
  • bass, keys and vocals for BadLands

Julie now plays bass and vocals with the Strait Up, alongside her husband, Peter Kowald on drums.
